Sonrise Notes for June 22nd...
...Here’s some news that takes a little bit of following – a bit of “six degrees” if you will…. Newsboys lead singer Michael Tait used to be in the band DC Talk with TobyMac and Kevin Max; when they split up, they all went solo, but two years ago, Kevin became the new lead singer for Audio Adrenaline, who had just come off of a six year break. A couple of weeks ago, both Audio Adrenaline and Kevin Max released statements saying “Kevin has departed the band and he’s releasing a new solo album called “Broken Temples.” The first single is called “Infinite,” and it’s available on ITunes right now. Hear it now on the “Features” page. By the way, Josh Engler, formerly of the band Abandon, is the new lead singer for Audio Adrenaline and their new album is due next year!
...Camp Electric, which brings together Christian musicians and teaches them band dynamics, the art of leading worship, and performance skills, has sold out in Nashville but still has spaces open for the Cedarville, Ohio dates which are July 20-24. http://campelectric.com/
...Laura Story is expecting twins! Laura said through her blog, “If you are reading this, you are probably someone we call friend, whether we have ever met you or not, and I hope it isn’t an imposition to ask you to join us in praying for two things: With these two sweet blessings has come worse morning sickness than I could have ever imagined! Please pray for my stomach to be able to take in and retain the nutrients my body needs. And pray for these two peanuts in my belly for healthy growth and development, as well as hearts that will grow to love Jesus.”
...We hope you are enjoying the first weekend of the summer! The first day of summer was yesterday and is officially called the June Solstice. Did you know June solstice dates vary between the 20th and 22nd of June each year, but listen to this – it’s on the 21st again next year, then on the 20th in 2016 but a June 22nd solstice won’t happen until June 22, 2203! So now you know the first day of summer won’t be on the 22nd for a hundred eighty nine years! By the way, The Farmer’s Almanac offers some good ways to celebrate the first summer weekend like camp out in your back yard tonight, or plant a tree.
