Sonrise Notes for June 15th...
...At a recent fan awards ceremony in Nashville, TobyMac won Best of Show, while Song of the Year went to Mandisa for “Overcomer.” Worship Song of the Year went to Hillsong United for “Oceans”, Artist of the Year was Casting Crowns and Newsboys grabbed the Group of the year. The Film Impact award went to the movie “God’s Not Dead.” There was even an award for “First Christian Artist to Appear on a 7UP can” and that was won by Jamie Grace! Chris Tomlin was named Male Artist of the Year.
...The lineup for Universal Studios Rock The Universe, which takes place in Orlando September 5-6 has been released and several Sonrise artists will be there. The list includes Third Day, Jeremy Camp, Kari Jobe, Switchfoot, TobyMac, and several others. See the whole lineup here. www.RocktheUniverse.com
...Crowder will be performing at the 27th annual Alive Festival at Atwood Lake Park in Mineral City, Ohio next weekend, but if you can’t make that, another opportunity is at Soulfest – New England’s Premier Christian Music Festival August 7.
...Disney’s Night of Joy is coming up in September. Hillsong United will be there this year, along with Chris Tomlin, Matthew West, For King & Country, Mandisa, MercyMe, and more, so if you are headed to the Orlando area the weekend of September 5-6, check it out. Keep in mind that is the same weekend of Universal Studio’s Rock The Universe so there will be a lot of Christian music happening with dozens and dozens of Sonrise artists at both locations.
...Jamie Grace is about to honored as the first Christian artist to be featured on a 7-up can! At a recent awards show that was tied in with Pepsico, fans chose Jamie over the competition – Sidewalk Prophets, Hillsong Young & Free, and Tenth Avenue North. In Pepsi Mid-America's region--which includes Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee--soda drinkers will be greeted with for KING & COUNTRY on their Pepsi cans, Casting Crowns on their Dr. Peppers, Britt Nicole on Mountain Dew cans, and Josh Wilson on cans of Diet Pepsi. Past Sonrise artists on cans included Matt Maher on Dr. Pepper, Matthew West on the Pepsi can, Francesca Battistelli on Diet Pepsi, and TobyMac on Mountain Dew.
