...Mother's Day recognizes mothers, motherhood and maternal bonds in general, as well the positive contributions that they make to society. Our American tradition of Mother’s Day started with Anna Jarvis, who celebrated it for the first time in 1907, then campaigned to make it an official holiday. One of the early traditions that represent the day is the carnation. Anna Jarvis delivered 500 of them at the first celebration and many religious services later adopted the custom of giving away carnations.
...Jason Gray was born and raised in Southwestern Minnesota, and in 2003 he was honored as one of "Ten Outstanding Young Minnesotans" by the Minnesota Junior Chamber, for his volunteerism, civic leadership, and humanitarian work with World Vision's "Hope Initiative".
...Mother's Day is now one of the most commercially successful American occasions, having become the most popular day of the year to dine out at a restaurant in the United States and generating a large portion of the jewelry industry's annual revenue. Americans spend about $2.6 billion on flowers, $1.53 billion on pampering gifts—like spa treatments—and another $68 million on greeting cards. Whatever you are doing for your mom today, just be sure she knows how much you appreciate her!

...Last month, in honor of mother’s day, Cardstore.com posted a fake classified ad online to fill a 'Director of Operations' position at a place called Rehtom, Inc. (which is actually 'mother' spelled backwards). Despite all the crazy requirements listed in the job description, they received 24 responses from real people and conducted webcam interviews. The actor playing the interviewer told applicants that the open position is 365 days a year, 24 hours a day with no pay, no vacation and long periods of standing up and bending over, among other things. After all the strange looks and questions, he went on to say “What if I told you that there's actually someone that holds this position right now? Billions of people actually.... Moms”.
...The band Citizen Way is made up of two sets of siblings - Josh and Ben Calhoun and David and Ben Blascoe. They’re formerly known as The Least Of These, and got together when they all attended Judson University, a Christian liberal arts university located in Elgin, IL.
