One of our favorite things about Sonrise is hearing from people who’ve been touched by something they heard on the show. Whether it’s a song that made an impact on your life, or a story that someone shared, it’s great to know that it’s helped in some way, so if there is something that has touched you in a special way, we’d love to hear about it. Everybody has a story, and we’d love to hear yours.

William Velez is a blind 89 year old World War 2 Veteran, and he and his wife got a surprise when his house got painted by firefighters earlier this month, thanks to an organization called Paint Your Heart Out Tampa. Their mission "is to enrich lives and renew our community through annual volunteer efforts to paint and beautify our senior, veteran, or disabled neighbors' homes... one paint brush at a time." When they found out William painted his home 17 years ago by himself, but now with his impairment, he can’t, dozens of members of the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue and their families painted it in one day. The group has 75,000 volunteers who have painted 3,000 houses so far.
