With storms like Hurricane Harvey and Irma, we’ll be hearing stories of the aftermath for quite a while. Many of them are about what we call Random Act Heroes… like the doctors who ignored their own safety and properties to be sure a cancer patient got his life-saving treatment on time. Just days after Hurricane Harvey made landfall, cancer patient John Cormier at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston was in desperate need of a critical treatment that had to be given at a very specific time. Dr. Abdi made his way to the hospital, at one point walking three miles in waist deep water, to be sure his patient got the treatment he needed. He was joined by another doctor, three lab technicians, and a nurse, and the rest of the story is amazing. See it for yourself.
